Welcome to Web Page Design & Development!  

I am LeKeith A. Bufford and I will be your guide on this journey.  I am a graduate of North Central High School (Go Knight!) and I earned my bachelor's degree from Clemson University in 1999.  In 2014 I completed my final masters degree at Liberty University.  I am married to my high school sweetheart and we have two beautiful children.  I have taught Adult Education in Kershaw County since 2015. Before that I taught Adult Education and Adult High School for four years at Cape Fear Community College in Wilmington, North Carolina.  I also taught English as a Foreign Language for three years around Yonago, Japan.

Web and Digital Communications Course Listing

Students who complete the Web and Digital Communications program get jobs such as website designer and front end developer straight out of high school.  Career opportunities for students who pursue a two year degree include cyber security specialist, backend developer, application programmer, programmer/analyst or UI developer. With a four year degree students' career opportunities expand to include game design and development, software development, software engineering, systems analyst, cloud automation engineer, data scientist, IT technical associate, associate developer, business technology analyst, and software consultant. 

Fundamentals of Webpage Design and Development     503181CW

Grades 10 – 12                                                       

1 unit

Prerequisite: Fundamentals of Computing

This course will guide students in the development of websites in a project-based, problem-solving environment.  Students will learn the industry standard languages, HTML and CSS, which are used in every website on the web today.  Students will learn how to create a portfolio of content-rich, well-styled websites.  Successful completion of this course will prepare students for industry certification.  This course satisfies the graduation requirements for a computer science credit.

Advanced Webpage Design and Development     503381CW

Grades 10 – 12                                                      

1 unit

Prerequisite: Fundamentals of Webpage Design and Development

This advanced course is designed to provide students with the knowledge and skills necessary to pursue careers in web design and development.  Students will develop an in-depth understanding and use of HTML, CSS, JavaScript, layout techniques, and other industry-standard practices.  In addition, students will learn scripting technologies to create dynamic and interactive websites.  Students will maintain a professional quality portfolio of web design work.  Successful completion of this course will prepare students for industry certification.  This course satisfies the graduation requirements for a computer science credit.

Foundations of Animation     535000CW

Grades 10 – 12   1 Unit     Prerequisite: Advanced Computer Repair and Service or Advanced Webpage Design and Development. Must register for both Foundations of Animation and Game Design and Development.    Foundations of Animation prepares students to use artistic and technological foundations to create animations. The basic principles of digital animation are reviewed, including character development and story conception through production. Students learn the technical language used in the animation industry and basic animation methods. They will also learn techniques about various ways to plan, create, and prepare for animation in pre-production, production and post-production. This course satisfies the graduation requirement for a computer science credit. 

Game Design and Development     535200CW 

Grades 10 – 12    1 Unit   Corequisite:  Foundations of Animation    Game Design and Development provides students with the opportunity to design and develop fully-functional video games with product design documentation. This course emphasizes game control and logic, design tools, and the physics of games using computer programming. This course satisfies the graduation requirement for a computer science credit.    Computer Programming 1 with Java     505200CD   Grades 11 – 12    2 Units   Prerequisite: Foundations of Animation and Game Design and Development and teacher recommendation   The Computer Programming 1 with Java course is designed to emphasize the fundamentals of computer programming using Java. Topics include computer software, program design and development, and practical experience in programming, using modern, object-oriented languages.
