About the Mechatronics Program

Instructor for Mechatronics

Mr. Cole Jackson

Picture of Mr. Jackson

My name is Cole Jackson, and I’m excited to be the new Mechatronics instructor. I graduated from Lugoff-Elgin High School and Central Carolina Technical College with a degree in Mechatronics. While in high school, I took Precision Metal Working at WTC, which helped spark my interest in this field. After graduating, I worked as an Electrical and Instrumentation Technician at Invista.

I enjoy helping students learn real-world skills they can use in the workforce. Seeing them gain confidence and master new skills is one of the best parts of teaching.

Outside of school, I love spending time with my wife, Abby, and our son, River. I enjoy bass fishing, golfing with friends and family, and hunting. One of my favorite things is playing with my son and watching him get excited when he learns something new.

Mechatronics Integrated Technologies Course Listing

Mechatronics Integrated Technologies is a new interdisciplinary field involving mechanical, instrumentation, electronics, robotics /automation, computer components, and control systems.  The program prepares students who like to work with their hands as well as their minds.  Mechatronics is a dynamic field that changes daily with the rapid improvements in technology and computer systems.  Systems are networked to meet the demands of automated manufacturing processes, and technicians are trained to meet the demands of automated manufacturing processes, and technicians are trained to meet necessary entry-level industrial skills and entry into a postsecondary program at a technical college. WTC and CCTC offer a fast track option for juniors/seniors. Qualified students will work towards articulating courses and will enroll in CCTC and take classes. Students who complete the fast track program will earn their Basic Mechatronics Technology Certification the summer after graduation.
