Meet Your School Counselor

Welcome to the Woolard Technology Center! My name is Matt Spolski, and I have the privilege of serving as the school counselor at WTC. I am entering my 15th year as a school counselor and my 10th year at Woolard Technology Center after previously serving students at Lugoff-Elgin High School.


My mission is to support, encourage, and advocate for every student by helping remove barriers to success in their academic, career, college, and personal/social development. Every student has strengths and potential, and I strive to help each one identify goals, explore opportunities, and prepare for a successful future.


As the WTC school counselor, I provide a variety of services to students, including:

  • Academic planning, course selection, and scheduling
  • Goal setting, organization, and time management
  • Career exploration and career pathway planning
  • College and post-secondary planning
  • College visits and career-related field trips
  • College admissions, financial aid, and scholarships 
  • Assistance with scholarship essays, résumés, and interview preparation

I also provide short-term individual counseling for students experiencing personal, social, or emotional concerns that may impact their success at school. When appropriate, I collaborate with families, teachers, administrators, and community resources to ensure students receive the support they need. School-based therapeutic mental health counseling services are also available through Kershaw County School District for students who need ongoing support.


Students are always welcome to stop by the School Counseling Office. To meet with me during the school day, simply ask your teacher for permission to visit the office or schedule an appointment.


I earned a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Albright College and a Master of Education in Secondary School Counseling from Kutztown University. Outside of WTC, I coach the Camden High School cross country team. My wife is an 8th grade social studies teacher at Camden Middle School, and together we enjoy raising our three children here in Kershaw County.


I look forward to partnering with students and families as we prepare every WTC student for success in college, careers, and life.
